Out patient services :
OPD runs 7 days a week, 365 days a year with limited working hours even on all gazette holidays. On routine days the OPD is functional from 9 AM till 3 PM (Winters) and 8 AM to 2 PM (summers)
Situated on the ground floor this is running in 6 rooms (room no 4-9) and is equipped with basic infrastructure for anthropometric measurements and teaching material for the caregiver.
Nursing staff assists the patients and doctors in recording details about the patient and guiding the attendants regarding investigations and prescription. Separate area for mothers to breast feed has been designated in the department.
Generic medicines as per government protocol and immunization as per Universal Immunization Program are provided free of cost .All facilities under the Government's "Janani ShishuSuraksha Yojana(JSSY) are provided free of cost to newborns and infants under one year of age.
Pediatrics OPD Schedule
All Senior doctors are available on all days in the OPD.
Weekly offs are taken by all doctors on any one day of the week such that other doctors are available in the department.
OPD is open all days with a registration fees of Rs 5/-
In-Patient Services :
The Department of Pediatrics housed in the RDBP Govt.Jaipuriya Hospital has a total bed strength of 47. Located on the ground floor, duty residents and nursing staff are posted 24 hours in these wards. The Pediatric ward has received special recognition in the hospital for the child friendly environment created there and has an attached toy-bank where play therapy sessions are conducted.
The ward is also equipped with its own pantry for boiling milk and preparing healthy diet for children suffering from malnutrition as well as two LEDs and DVD player where educational and recreational programs for children are played. The Procedure room attached to the ward is equipped with basic facilities for handling pediatric emergencies. Multi-parameter monitors are available bedside. A side lab is attached for basic investigations. Facilities for bedside ECG and X-ray are available round the clock.
Patients are admitted and managed under either of the two general pediatric units (I and II,) and one Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).Both the OPD and IPD are supported by an excellent in-house Laboratory.
NICU
This is equipped with radiant warmers(7), ventilators, CPAP ,Multi-para monitors, Bluelight phototherapy unit ,piped oxygen supply and is functioning as a level II NICU.
Round the clock nursing staff is available with senior faculty available on call.
EMERGENCY
The Accidents & Emergency (Casualty) section located on the ground floor is a 24 bedded unit which provides round the clock emergency services. Sick patients who come to the OPD in the morning, those who arrive after OPD hours and on holidays are seen here. The A&E consists of a Triage room, Zero delay ward, the A&E ward and the High Dependency Unit (HDU) level I for patients who require close monitoring and yet are not sick enough to be transferred to the intensive care unit.
Three emergency teams do duty on shift basis including one Senior Specialist from Medical and Surgical side available in house round the clock and a senior pediatrician also available on call round the clock. This is supported by a team of senior and junior nurses, ECG, lab and X-ray technician. The state provided 108 emergency transport facility as well as round the clock ambulance facility is available here for transport from periphery and transport to higher centre. The department is well equipped with all forms of oxygen therapy, radiant warmers for newborn temperature maintenance, multi-parameter monitors, pediatric ventilators and facilities for conducting minor procedures. The residents are well versed in handling all pediatric emergency situations, as they deal with a wide range of conditions everyday like shock, respiratory distress, diabetic ketoacidosis, congestive cardiac failure, poisonings ,seizures etc
Investigations
Investigations like hematological investigations, bed- side X rays, ECG, ultrasonography etc are available 24 hours
Side Lab Facility
The OPD has a side lab for rapid reporting of basic investigations like hemogram, urine routine etc.
Procedure Room
The OPD has a procedure room for taking blood samples for investigations.

Information About Speciality Clinics
Growth & Development Clinic
Screening for developmental delays and growth monitoring of children is done here. Basic Anthropometric measurements and developmental screening is carried out regularly .Children are also screened for Malnutrition and advised the required nutritional rehabilitation.
Nephrology & Endocrinology Clinic
This clinic is held with a view to screen and streamline the management of children with renal and endocrine problems like Nephrotic Syndrome, Acute Glomerulo-nephritis ,Diabetes mellitus and Hypothyroidism
Respiratory Disease Clinic
Catering mainly to children suffering from Asthma and Reactive Airway diseases, this clinic helps children to monitor as well as improve their respiratory efficiency. Use of various metered dose inhalers is also explained here. In association with the TB clinic, this caters to a large number of cases of pediatric TB- pulmonary and extra pulmonary. Apart from continuation of anti-tuberculosis medication, assessing response to therapy and side-effects of the drugs, screening and counseling of family members is also done.
High Risk Newborn Clinic
NICU graduates who are at high risk for adverse neuro-developmental outcome are followed up in this clinic. Immunization as per the Universal Immunization Program is provided here. Growth monitoring, treatment of medical problems and parental counseling is done on a case to case basis. Breast feeding promotion and Kangaroo Mother Care is promoted universally and mothers guided regarding any problems related to lactation and care of the high risk newborn.
The services are offered to both inborn babies discharged from our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and also to out-born babies who are identified as high risk in the well baby clinic. The visit to the high risk clinic is by prior appointment which is given at the time of discharge or at the time of visit to the well baby clinic. Assessment of growth, neurological examination, and development assessment are done. And immunization provided
